Purpose

Think about all the times you’ve heard or read prophetic promises of blessings that come from studying the Book of Mormon. The thing is, there’s a big difference between skimming the Book of Mormon and really studying it. Take your studies to the next level and bring the incredible blessings of strength, comfort, joy, and a closer relationship with Jesus Christ into your life.

Study the Book of Mormon and strengthen your testimony of it.

Goal Ideas

  • Read Moroni 10:3–5. Follow Moroni’s instructions for gaining a testimony of the Book of Mormon. As you do, have faith that the Lord will answer in the time and way that is best for you.

  • Learn about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon by reading the introductory pages and watching this video. You could also read Book of Mormon Stories or listen to the Book of Mormon.

  • Read President Russell M. Nelson’s story of how he studied the Book of Mormon (see “The Book of Mormon: What Would Your Life Be Like without It?” Ensign or Liahona, Nov. 2017, 60–63). Choose a topic he mentioned or pick your own. As you study the Book of Mormon, write down what you learn about that topic.

  • Many Book of Mormon prophets wrote with you in mind (see 2 Nephi 25:21; Jacob 1:3; and Mormon 8:34–35). As you read the Book of Mormon, ask yourself questions like “Why is this important for me to know?” or “How can this help me today?” Write down your impressions in your journal.

  • One purpose of the Book of Mormon is to convince everyone that “Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God” (title page of the Book of Mormon). As you read the Book of Mormon, make note of the many references to Jesus Christ. (It might help to look in the Guide to the Scriptures for other names for Jesus Christ.) What do you learn about the Savior and His mission? How is your relationship with Jesus Christ changing as you study the Book of Mormon?

  • Download and learn how to use the Gospel Library app to study the Book of Mormon. Ask a friend, family member, or leader how they study the Book of Mormon using the app. Use #GospelLibrary or #BookofMormon on social media to join the conversation.

  • Create your own goal.
