Perform a Skit
Purpose
Create a skit and perform it in front of an audience. Performing is a great way to have fun with friends, develop creativity, and increase confidence.
Description
Divide into groups, and give each group an idea or topic for a skit. Have the groups either perform their skits live or make a video recording to watch afterward. Consider giving awards to each group, such as funniest skit, most creative skit, and so on.
More Ideas
-
Grab bag—Give each group a bag full of random props that they must use in their skit.
-
Scripture skits—Have participants select and act out scripture stories for their skits.
-
Make it a musical—Divide into groups and assign each group a song to choreograph a dance to. You could have a panel of judges award points for creativity, unity, or any other category.
-
Make a commercial—Have participants select an article of faith, Young Women value, “My Gospel Standards” topic, For the Strength of Youth topic, or other positive message and create a commercial about it.
Discussion
Encourage participants to talk about what they are learning. Discussions can take place before, during, or after the activity. You could ask questions like the following:
-
Why do you think it is important to be confident and interact well with others?
-
When was a time that being confident helped you?
-
What feelings or impressions do you have about confidence and interacting positively with others?
-
How can you apply what you are learning in your life?
