Purpose

Learning to use tools properly can help you fix, grow, and make things. You’ll become more self-reliant and able to serve others. You can also protect yourself by learning to use tools safely.

Goal Description

Learn to use basic garden and home tools safely.

Goal Ideas

  • Learn to identify common tools and what each tool is used for. If possible, begin to assemble a basic tool kit of your own. You could include things like a hammer, a set of screwdrivers, a measuring tape, and pliers. Consider safety equipment too, such as gloves, safety glasses, or masks.

  • Before you use a tool, read the instructions. Make sure you know and apply the safety precautions for each tool.

  • Find a project you’d like to complete. Ask an experienced person to help you learn what tools you need and how to use them.

  • With the help of a qualified adult, learn how to use power tools. Build something that uses these tools.

  • Create your own goal.
