ʻEletā D. Todd Christofferson

Ko e meʻa ʻoku fie maʻu ʻe he ʻOtuá ko e līʻoa naʻe tā ʻe Sīsuú.

Naʻe pehē ʻe Palesiteni Kōtoni B. Hingikelī (1910–2008), ko e ongoongoleleí “ko ha palani ia ʻo e tauʻatāina ʻokú ne puleʻi ʻa e uʻa mo e hotau tōʻonga ʻulungāngá.”1 ʻOku fokotuʻu kitautolu ʻe he palani ko ʻení ʻi ha hala ʻo e fakatupulaki e ʻiló mo e ivi malavá, fakatupulaki e ʻaloʻofá pea mo e māmá. Ko e tauʻatāina ia ke aʻusia ʻa e tuʻunga te ke malavá mo totonu ke ke aʻusiá. Ka koeʻuhí ke kakato hoʻo tauʻatāiná, kuo pau ke ke loto fiemālie ke liʻaki kotoa hoʻo ngaahi angahalá (vakai, ʻAlamā 22:18), hoʻo loto-tāngiá, ho ngaahi anga ʻokú ke saiʻia ai ka ʻoku taʻe-feʻungá, pea mahalo mo ha ngaahi meʻa lelei te ne fakafeʻātungiaʻi e meʻa ʻoku ʻafioʻi ʻe he ʻOtuá ʻoku mahuʻinga kiate koé.

Ko e Leʻo ʻo e ʻEikí

Naʻe talanoa ʻe hoku mehikitanga ko ʻAtina Neli Kolí ki ha meʻa naʻá ne aʻusia he ngaahi taʻu lahi kuo hilí mo ʻene tangataʻeikí—ʻa ia ko ʻeku kui tangata ko Helekī V. Suenisoní (Helge V. Swenson), kuó ne ʻosi pekia he taimí ni—ka ʻokú ne fakahaaʻi ʻa e meʻa ʻoku ou ʻuhinga ki aí. Naʻá ne pehē:

“Naʻá ku ʻeva mo ʻeku tama fefiné ki he ʻapi ʻo ʻeku ongomātuʻá. Mahalo ko e tāitō ia ʻa e laʻaá mo e ʻeke mai heʻeku fineʻeikí pe ʻokú ma fie hū ki he fakafaletolo ʻi muí ʻo sio hono ui ʻe he Tangataʻeikí ʻene fanga sipi [ʻe toko nimá] ke nau hū ki he palepalé ʻi he poʻulí. Ko e Tangataʻeikí … ko ha pēteliake fakasiteiki, pea … ko e sino-hā-mai ia ʻo e meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku lelei mo nonga pea mo moʻoni ʻi ha tangata ʻa e ʻOtuá.

“… Ne lue atu ʻa e Tangataʻeikí ki he ngataʻanga ʻo e loto ʻataʻataá peá ne ui, ‘Mou omi.’ ʻI he taimi pē ko iá, naʻe ʻikai ke nau toe tuʻu ʻo kai e meʻakai ne nau feinga ki aí, ka ne hanga kotoa e ʻulu ʻe nimá ki he feituʻu naʻe ʻi aí, pea kamata lele leva ʻa e fanga sipí kae ʻoua kuo nau aʻu ki hono tafaʻakí ʻo ne milimili honau ʻulú takitaha.

“Naʻe pehē mai leva ʻe heʻeku kiʻi taʻahiné, ‘ʻO, Kui fefine, naʻe anga fēfē hono ʻai ʻe Kui tangata kinautolu ke nau fai iá?’

“Naʻe tali ange heʻeku faʻeé, ‘ʻOku ʻilo ʻe he fanga sipí hono leʻó, pea ʻoku nau ʻofa ai.’ Ka kuo pau ke u tala atu ʻeni, naʻe ʻi ai ha fanga sipi ʻe toko nima ʻi he loto ʻataʻataá, pea naʻe mākeke hake ʻa e ʻulu ʻe nima ʻi heʻene uí, ka ko e fā pē naʻe lele mai ki he Tangataʻeikí. ʻI he potu mamaʻo taha ʻi he ngataʻanga ʻo e loto ʻataʻataá, ʻo fakahangatonu mai ki he Tangataʻeikí, naʻe tuʻu ai [ha ʻuhikiʻi sipi lahi]. Naʻe ui atu ki ai ʻa e Tangataʻeikí, ‘Haʻu foki.’ Naʻe ngaue ʻo hangē ka haʻú ka naʻe ʻikai ke haʻu ia. Pea kamata lue atu leva ʻa e Tangataʻeikí he loto ʻataʻataá, mo ui atu pē, ‘Haʻu foki. ʻOku ʻikai haʻi koe.’ Naʻe muimui atu pē fanga sipi kehe ʻe faá ʻi hono halá.

“Pea toki fakamatala mai leva ʻe he Fineʻeikí kiate kimautolu naʻe ʻi ai haʻana maheni naʻá ne ʻomai ʻa e [ʻuhikiʻi sipí] ʻi he ngaahi uike siʻi kuo hilí peá ne foaki ia ki he Tangataʻeikí mo talaange ʻoku ʻikai ke ne toe fie maʻu ia ʻe ia ʻi heʻene tākangá. Naʻe pehē ʻe he tangatá naʻe makaka mo faikehe pea naʻá ne taki maʻu pē ʻa e fanga sipi kehé ʻo hae ʻa e ʻaá pea mo fakatupu ha ngaahi palopalema lahi pea loto ai ia ke ne foaki. Naʻe tali lelei ʻe he Tangataʻeikí ʻa e sipí, pea ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho siʻi hono hokó naʻá ne haʻi ia ʻi he loto ʻataʻataá koeʻuhí ke ʻoua naʻa hola. Peá ne toki akoʻi ia ʻi he faʻa-kātaki ke ʻofa kiate ia pea mo e fanga sipi kehé. Pea, ʻi heʻene ongoʻi lata ange ʻi hono ʻapi foʻoú, ne tuku ai ʻe he Tangataʻeikí ha kiʻi konga maea nounou ʻi hono kiá ka naʻe ʻikai ke toe haʻi.

“ʻI hono fakamatalaʻi ʻe he Fineʻeikí ʻeni kiate kimautolú, kuo mei aʻu atu ʻa e Tangataʻeikí ia mo ʻene fanga sipí ki he [mālōlōʻanga] ʻi he ngataʻanga ʻo e loto ʻataʻataá, pea ʻi heʻene lōngonoá ne mau fanongo atu ki heʻene toe ui, ‘Haʻu foki. ʻOku ʻikai toe haʻi koe. ʻOkú ke tauʻatāina.’

“Naʻá ku ongoʻi e tafe hoku loʻimatá ʻi heʻeku mamata ki he [sipí] ʻi heʻene langa lele ʻo aʻu ki he tafaʻaki ʻo e Tangataʻeikí. Ne ala atu hono nima ʻofá ki hono ʻulú, naʻá ne tafoki leva mo e kau mēmipa kotoa ʻo ʻene kiʻi tākangá ʻo lue hangatonu mai kiate kimautolu.

“Naʻá ku fakakaukau ki he niʻihi ʻo kitautolu, ʻa ia ko e fanga sipi kotoa ʻa e ʻOtuá, ʻoku haʻisia pea mo pōpula koeʻuhí ko ʻetau ngaahi angahala ʻi he māmaní. ʻI heʻeku tuʻu ko ia ʻi he fakafaletolo ki muí, naʻá ku fakamālō loto pē ki heʻeku Tamai Hēvaní ʻi he ʻi ai ha kau tokoni tauhi sipi mo ha kau faiako ʻoku nau faʻa-kātaki mo angaʻofa pea mo loto fiemālie ke akoʻi kitautolu ʻi he ʻofá mo e talangofuá pea mo ʻomi ha malu mo ha tauʻatāina ʻi he loto tākangá koeʻuhí, ke tau fakatokangaʻi ʻa e leʻo ʻo e ʻEikí ʻi he taimi ʻokú Ne ui aí, ʻHaʻu,’ neongo ʻetau mamaʻo mei he maluʻangá. Ko ʻeni kuó ke tauʻatāina.’”2

ʻOku fakafiefia ke ʻilo te tau lava ʻo fakalahi ʻetau tauʻatāiná ʻaki haʻatau fakakakato ʻetau talangofuá. ʻI hono fakalea ʻe Palesiteni Poiti K. Peeka, ko e Palesiteni ʻo e Kōlomu ʻo e Kau ʻAposetolo ʻe Toko Hongofulu Mā Uá, “ʻOku ʻikai ke tau talangofuá koeʻuhí he ʻoku tau kui, ʻoku tau talangofuá koʻeuhí he ʻoku tau lava ʻo sio.”3

Ko ʻetau fili ʻi he moʻuí ni ʻoku ʻikai ko haʻatau moʻulaloa pe ʻikai moʻulaloa ki ha faʻahinga mālohi. Ko ʻetau filí pe ko e fē ʻa e mafai te tau talangofua ki aí: ʻo e ʻOtuá pe ʻo Sētane. Hangē ko hono fakamatalaʻi ʻe Līhaí, ko ha fili ʻi he vā ʻo e tauʻatāiná mo e pōpulá (vakai, 2 Nīfai 2:27). Kapau ʻoku ʻikai ko e tahá, ta ʻoku mahino ko e tahá.

ʻOku ʻomi ʻe he ʻetau ongongofua ki he ʻOtuá mo ʻEne totonu ke pule kiate kitautolú ha ngaahi tāpuaki kehe. ʻOku kau ʻi he mahuʻinga tahá ʻa e tui mo e falala ko ia ʻokú ne ʻai ke tau lava ʻo moʻui ʻi he melinó. Naʻe folofola ʻa e ʻEikí kia Siosiua:

“ʻE ʻikai ha tangata te ne faʻa tuʻu ʻi ho ʻaó, ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho kotoa pē ʻo hoʻo moʻuí: ʻo hangē ko ʻeku ʻia Mōsesé, pehē pē ʻeku ʻiate koé: ʻe ʻikai te u fakatukutukuʻi koe, pe siʻaki koe. …

“Kae kehe ke mālohi pē ʻa koe mo ke loto toʻa ʻaupito, koeʻuhi ke ke tokanga ʻo fai ʻo fakatatau ki he fono kotoa pē, ʻa ia naʻe fekau kiate koe ʻe heʻeku tamaioʻeiki ko Mōsese: ʻoua naʻá ke tafoki mei ai ki he nima toʻomataʻu pē ki he nima toʻohema, koeʻuhi ke ke monūʻia koe ʻi he potu kotoa pē ʻokú ke ʻalu kí ai.” (Sosiua 1:5, 7).

“Kuó u Ikunaʻi ʻa e Māmaní”

Kapau ʻe fai pehē mo kitautolu ʻo “tokanga ke fai ʻo fakatatau mo e ngaahi fonó kotoa,” ʻe maʻu ʻe kitautolu foki mo e falala ʻoku kau mo kitautolu ʻa e ʻOtuá ʻo hangē ko ʻEne kau mo Mōsesé. Te tau lava ʻo lea fakataha mo e Tangata Faʻu Sāmé, “Kuó u falala ki he ʻOtua: ʻe ʻikai te u manavahé ki ha meʻa ʻe faʻa fai ʻe he tangata kiate au.” (Saame 56:11). ʻIkai kuo ʻosi talaʻofa ʻa e ʻEikí, “Te mou maʻu ʻa e mamahi ʻi mamani: ka mou loto toʻa ; kuó u ikuʻi ʻa māmani.” (Sione 16:33)?

Naʻá ku puleʻi ha fakataha alēlea fakatonutonu faka-Siasi ʻi he ngaahi taʻu lahi kuo hilí. ʻI heʻemau fakakaukauʻi ʻa e meʻá, naʻe faingataʻaʻia hoku lotó, pea ne u kole ai ke fakaʻatā au ke u fakakaukau mo lotu tokotaha fekauʻaki mo ia, ki muʻa peá u toki foki mai ki he fakataha alēleá.

Naʻá ku tuʻu ʻi muʻa he sea ʻi hoku ʻōfisí ʻo tautapa ki he ʻEikí ke tokoni mai ke mahino kiate au pe naʻe anga fēfē hono fakahoko ha faʻahinga kovi pehē. Naʻe ʻikai ke u mamata ka naʻá ku ongoʻi ha fuʻu vanu naʻe ʻi ai hano ʻufiʻufi. Naʻe kiʻi leʻei ha tuliki ʻe taha ʻo e ʻufiʻufí ʻi ha kiʻi mōmeniti, pea naʻá ku fakatokangaʻi ʻi he loto luó ʻa e loloto mo hono lahi ʻo e kovi ʻoku ʻi he māmani ko ʻení. Naʻe mahulu hake ia ʻi he meʻa neu malava ke makupusí. Naʻá ku fakatumutumu. Naʻá ku tō tangutu ai ki he sea naʻe ʻi mui ʻiate aú.

Naʻe haʻu ki he ʻeku fakakaukaú ʻi he mōmēniti ko iá ʻa e kupuʻi lea ko ʻení: “Ka mou loto toʻa ; kuó u ikuʻi ʻa māmani.” (Sione 16:33). ʻOku hāhāmolofia haʻaku ongoʻi ʻa e faʻahinga nonga peheé ʻi hono fakafehoanaki ki he moʻoni ʻo e koví. Naʻá ku maʻu ha ongoʻi houngaʻia lahi ange ʻi hono kāfakafa siʻi faingataʻaʻia ʻa e Fakamoʻuí pea mo fakahoungaʻi lahi ange, pea aʻu ʻo fakamanavahē, hono loloto ʻo e meʻa naʻá Ne ikunaʻí. Naʻá ku maʻu ha nonga fekauʻaki mo e tangata naʻe ʻi muʻa ʻiate kimautolu ke fakamāuʻí, ʻi heʻeku ʻilo naʻe ʻi ai hano Huhuʻi, ʻa ia ʻoku feʻunga ʻEne ʻaloʻofá ke fakamaʻa ia pea mo toe fakaleleiʻi ʻa e ngaahi anga taʻe totonu naʻe fai ki aí. Naʻá ku ʻiloʻi lelei ange ʻe ikuna ʻa e leleí koeʻuhí ko Sīsū Kalaisi, he ka ne taʻe ʻoua Ia he ʻikai hatau faingamālie. Naʻá ku ongoʻi ha nonga, pea naʻe mātuʻaki fakafiefia.

Naʻe mahino ʻeni ki he Palōfita ko Siosefa Sāmitá ʻi he taimi naʻá ne pehē ai, “Tau fai ʻi he loto fiefia ʻa e ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku tau maʻu ʻa e mālohi ke faí; pea te tau toki lava ʻo tuʻu maʻu ʻi he loto-fakapapau, ke mamata ki he fakamoʻui ʻa e ʻOtuá, pea ke fakahā mai ʻa hono toʻukupú” (T&F 123:17). Ko e talaʻofa kiate kinautolu ʻoku ongongofua ki he ʻOtuá, ʻe fakahā ʻa Hono toʻukupú mo Hono mālohí ʻi heʻenau moʻuí. Naʻe folofola ʻa e Fakamoʻuí;

“ʻOua ʻe manavahē, fānau iiki, he ʻoku ʻaʻaku ʻa kimoutolu, pea kuó u ikunaʻi ʻa e māmaní, pea ʻoku mou kau kiate kinautolu kuo foaki ʻe heʻeku Tamaí kiate aú;

“Pea ʻe ʻikai mole ha taha ʻo kinautolu kuo foaki kiate au ʻe heʻeku Tamaí” (T&F 50:41–42).

Ko ha tāpuaki ke moʻui ʻi he ʻiloʻilo pau ko ʻení, mahalo ʻoku mahulu hake ia ʻi he meʻa ʻoku tau lava ʻo fakahoungaʻí. Ko kitautolú kotoa—te tau lava ʻo hiva ʻi he loto moʻoni, ʻi he vavé ni maí pe ʻamui ange, ʻi ha mōmēniti ʻoku tuʻulaki mai ai ha faingataʻa pe puputuʻu ʻoku fakaongosia, “Hono ʻikai ifo e nonga ʻoku ʻomi ʻe he ongoongoleleí.”4

ʻOku ʻikai totonu ke tau ʻamanaki ki he nonga pe tauʻatāina pe tui pe ha toe faʻahinga meʻaʻofa pehē mei hotau taki fakalangí kapau ʻoku māmāfana pe fakapāpākū pē ʻetau tali ʻEne takí. Ko ʻetau ongongofuá kuo pau ke kakato, loto ʻaki kotoa, pea foaki līʻoa. Ko e meʻa ʻoku fie maʻu ʻe he ʻOtuá ko e līʻoa naʻe tā ʻe Sīsuú, ʻa ē naʻe kole ke Ne inu ha ipu naʻe mātuʻaki mahi pea naʻa mo Ia naʻe ʻohovale, ʻa e Tupuʻanga maʻongoʻongá (vakai, Maʻake 14:33–36; T&F 19:17–18). Ka naʻá Ne fakahoko ia, “ʻo folo hifo ʻa e finangalo ʻo e ʻAló ʻe he finangalo ʻo e Tamaí” (Mōsaia 15:7).

ʻOku ou fakamoʻoni atu te tau lava ʻo taha mo e ʻOtuá tuʻunga ʻia Sīsū Kalaisi, ko e ʻAlo ʻo e ʻOtuá, ʻo hangē ko hono lotua ʻe Sīsū ke tau malavá (vakai, Sione 17:20–23). ʻOfa ke hoko ʻetau mateakiʻi Kinauá ko ha fakaʻilonga ngingila ʻo ʻetau moʻuí ʻo lauikuonga.
