Become a Better Reader and Writer
Purpose
Work to become a better reader and writer. These skills will help you in school, as you study the gospel, and as you communicate with others.
Goal Description
Improve your reading and writing skills.
Goal Ideas
-
Improve your reading skills by teaching someone else how to read. Read out loud with him or her, kindly correct mistakes, and improve your reading ability together.
-
Set a goal to learn a certain number of new words each week. Write down each word and its definition, and come up with your own sentence using the word correctly. Then practice using the word in your speech and writing. Bonus: Learn how to spell these words correctly, too!
-
Write in a notebook or a personal journal for 10 minutes every day. Set a timer and then write about whatever you want. It doesn’t have to be perfect; the important thing is to practice writing.
-
Commit to reading a certain number of books in one month or year. You could also choose to read different kinds of books such as fiction, biographies, informational books, or Church books. There are so many good books to read!
-
Create your own goal.
