Develop a New Hobby
Purpose
In the parable of the talents, the wise servant used the talents he was given to gain more talents. Build on your talents by developing a new hobby. You’ll have fun, learn new skills, and maybe even make new friends!
Goal Description
Develop a new hobby or interest.
Goal Ideas
-
Make a list or draw pictures of new hobbies you would like to explore. You might be interested in learning a language or to play an instrument. Or maybe it would be fun to learn about model trains or rock collecting. The sky’s the limit! Choose a hobby from your list and begin it.
-
Sign up for a class or find a group where you can learn about a hobby you’re interested in.
-
Find ways to serve others with your hobby. For example, if you crochet, you could crochet a gift for someone. Or if you know woodworking, you could create something useful for someone else. If your hobby is musical, you could sing or play an instrument for others to enjoy.
-
Make a goal to be uncomfortable. Make a list of hobbies and activities that are unlike anything you do now. Write down the things that seem odd, scary, or completely out of your comfort zone. Pick one of these to do and when you feel awkward, embarrassed, or nervous, embrace it! That’s how you grow.
-
Create your own goal.
