Learn to Explain Your Beliefs Clearly
Purpose
Sharing the truths of the gospel in simple and clear ways will strengthen your own testimony and help lead others to Jesus Christ.
Goal Description
Share the gospel of Jesus Christ simply and clearly with friends and family and with those who have questions.
Goal Ideas
-
Think about terms and phrases we use in the Church that are probably unfamiliar to your nonmember friends. Practice explaining your beliefs using words they can understand, even if they’ve never heard of the MTC, seminary, or Fast Sunday.
-
Write down what you believe, why you believe it, and what it means to you. Writing is a great way to organize your thoughts. It can also help you prepare to share your beliefs in a clear and understandable way.
-
Think of a gospel topic you’d like to know more about and study it in the scriptures, general conference talks, and the For the Strength of Youth booklet. Practice how you would explain this topic to someone else, maybe in a role play with a friend. Try to keep it simple!
-
Share your testimony during family home evening or fast and testimony meeting. If you feel nervous about sharing your testimony, it could help if you commit to yourself that you will bear your testimony. Then pray for Heavenly Father’s help to have courage to follow through on your commitment. It may also help to think of things you’d like to include in your testimony.
-
Create your own goal.
