Purpose

Everywhere you look, someone is plugged into an electronic device. Technology definitely can help you communicate, learn cool stuff, and even share the gospel. But too much time in front of a screen is bad for your brain, your social skills, and your spirit. Managing your technology time helps you to find more balance in your life.

Goal Description

Manage your technology time wisely.

Goal Ideas

  • Make a plan for your technology use. When will you use it? For what purpose? For how long? Write down your plan and post it somewhere you will see it often as a reminder. Pay attention to the amount of time you’re in front of a screen each day so you know if you’re sticking to your plan.

  • Leave your devices with your parents at night. Don’t take them into your bedroom when you go to bed. This will help you sleep better and even avoid temptation.

  • Pray about and then plan activities that don’t require a device. Focus on connecting with other people. For example, you could play a board game, go for a bike ride, or bake cookies.

  • Set an example for your friends by turning off or setting aside your phone and other devices when you’re hanging out with them or when you’re in a group setting (for example, a class or meal).

  • Create your own goal.
